The contract for the mobile CCTV cameras allows the cameras to be moved every 6 months.

The Environmental Enforcement Team are arranging a meeting in the next few weeks to discuss the new placements of the mobile CCTV cameras. Bates Estate is on the list of areas to be considered and a visit will be carried out to determine location of the cameras on the estate.

Ascertain which department has the responsibility for blocked drains in Hollingdean

Grant Ritchie

We have provided a full response to this as a North Area question. If the blocked drain in question serves the road or pavement it will be maintained by colleagues in Highways. If the drain in question is on housing land such as a car park or hard surface around a property this would be maintained by Housing Repairs and Maintenance and should be reported to the Repairs Help Desk.

NA6

Update the panel on the availability of skips from the authority for waste disposal

Justine Harris/Chloe McLaughlin

Bates Estate is an area that is going to be involved in a waste amnesty this year following the success of the Whitehawk Waste Amnesty in 2023.

In past years, skips were used on estates for collecting bulky items. This was extremely difficult to manage due to non residents driving in to the estates to dump their waste. Council officers tried to be present to oversee the project but this led to aggressive behaviour from non-residents and Police presence was required.

Skips also encourage skip diving which can be dangerous. Therefore, the use of skips is not recommended.

The waste amnesty will provide detailed maps of drop off areas where residents can place their bulky items the morning of the amnesty. This keeps the waste contained to an area and also prevents other people driving in to add their waste to it when they don’t live on the estate.

06.06.23

Previous actions NAO4 and NAO5 (relating to Solar Panels at Mimosa Court) incomplete. Jim Hornsby confirmed they had spoken with Keely McDonald regarding this action being completed going forwards – at the time of the panel it was confirmed as not yet being complete

Geof Gage/Grant Ritchie/Keely

McDonald

We have previously acknowledged that we worked with the residents on the installation of Solar PV to the roof of Mimosa Court and feel that our previous acknowledgement was a suitable response and for this project.

With regard to access to the roof again this has been fully explored and discussed with Mr. Hornsby and our decision not to permit physical access is we are afraid final, for the reasons we have given we have offered alternative options for this to be inspected.
